In 2010, after stints in Cambridge and Roslindale, my husband and I moved to Brookline – “for the schools,” as the saying goes.

Our son and daughter went to the Baker School from Kindergarten through 8th grade, and they’re now at BHS for 9th and 12th. We know (and love) these Brookline schools inside and out!

Along the way, our family has been blessed to encounter truly amazing teachers, and we’ve enjoyed the immeasurable benefits of an incredibly diverse community; the Baker School’s International Day had over 50 countries represented last year!

Aside from having 13 years of daily experience with the Public Schools of Brookline, I also have an academic and professional background in education. I was a Psychology major at Trinity College (Hartford) and earned a Master’s in Education from B.U., with a focus on Literacy, Language and Cultural Studies.

I worked in education and non-profits for about a decade, including with FairTest (the National Center for Fair and Open Testing), the Asian American Civic Association, and Jewish Vocational Service.

Then I shifted to a more creative path, going back to school for architecture / interior design and founding my own small business. I scaled that back when my kids were young, and over the years became more and more involved in the community and local government.

In 2016 I was elected to represent Precinct 16 in Town Meeting, and have been elected two more times since then. In 2022 I was appointed to Brookline’s fiscal Advisory Committee, which has been a fantastic experience. By working on the AC Schools Subcommittee, I’ve learned a tremendous amount about how our school system operates, is funded, and fits into the larger, complex Town structure.

At heart I am a community advocate. I show up, I listen, I ask questions, and I care. And I believe strongly that local government should be accountable to the public; in my mind, “Public” is spelled with a capital “P.”

When I’m not busy geeking out on Town-School politics, I can be found at my beloved Bikram yoga studio (four times a week, non-negotiable) (and yes, I saw the movie), walking in the neighborhood, trying to get my teenagers out of their rooms, or in my sunny kitchen,  listening to the news.

I hope to get to know you during my campaign.
