Background

I came to design after a ‘first career’ in the non-profit sector, where I worked for 10 years as a counselor, educator, and project manager.

I had studied Psychology at Trinity College and then earned a Master’s in Education from B.U., but in my early 30’s decided take a new path: I followed my creative instincts and headed to the New England School of Art & Design. While in the Interiors program there I also worked with Fairbank Design, an architecture and interiors firm in Cambridge. Both were terrific training grounds, and after 4 years I was ready to strike out on my own.

In May of ‘04 I officially launched Carolyn Thall Interior Design.

Now I get to do creative work every day, and still use the fundamental skills and principles that guided me in my non-profit career. As an Interior Designer I provide a creative service, and my emphasis is on the service. I meet with clients at their convenience, I take their calls when they need me, and I respect their budgets and time lines. I believe my client relationships and ability to give valuable help is as important as my aesthetic advice.
